Carrie English
Carrie English, formally trained in illustration and art direction, began her career by combining both creative disciplines in the publishing and advertising industries. As a senior book designer/illustrator at ZDPress (a division of Ziff-Davis) she illustrated and designed computer how-to books included in the best-selling "How Computers Work" series. Expanding into a new creative dimension, she designed several whimsical and stylish ceramics collections for a national distributor. Most recently, she has pushed into the product, children's book and editorial illustration markets with her warm style, humor and imagination. Though she primarily works digitally, her rich colors, painterly textures, and patchwork of patterns—both electronic and scanned—bring a hand-rendered feel to her work. Her illustrations have all the convenience of electronic files, without that pesky sterile computer-generated feel.
