Hannah Firmin
Hannah Firmin has worked as an illustrator and printmaker since leaving the Royal College of Art in 1981. From childhood she has loved the various techniques of printmaking and over the years has developed a unique style of illustration using a combination of lino, wood and vinyl cuts with collage and paint.She has created work for a wide variety of clients including The Guardian, The Times, BBC, Royal Mail,Penguin Books and Time Warner amongst others.
In 2004 Hannah won Best Cover of the Year at the British Book Awards with her cover for Alexander McCall Smith's The No 1 Ladies Detective Agency. She has just completed her 9th cover for this same author.Her latest large project is to illustrate a book on the making of a garden in Vermont, USA to be published this spring.Also she is working on a commission of four large woodcut prints for the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.She regularly exhibits her work and takes on private commissions as well as her commercial work.
