John Fretz
At the age of 9, John won an art contest and knew he was destined to make pictures all his life. After studying at the New School of Visual
Concepts in Seattle, he quit his job in the ad department of a local drug store chain and made the plunge into freelance commercial art.
His work is widely varied. He begins with concept first, and works in the style and medium that best expresses the idea. He likes to use humor and tweak reality to engage the viewer’s eye and mind.
Today he lives on the island of Hawai'i, making pictures and winning awards for some of the biggest clients in the country. In his spare time, he is working on a series of paintings of the Ka'u area of the Big Island.
