Michael Glenwood

After majoring in illustration at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, M. Glenwood worked as a graphic designer and illustrator for a telecommunication firm and computer graphics firm -- where he worked on the first computer graphics system (4 years before the introduction of the Mac) -- before embarking on a career as a freelance illustrator. In addition to a full time illustration career, he has been involved in printmaking at the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria, VA, Pyramid Atlantic in Silver Spring, MD, and the Corcoran College of Art in Washington, DC, focusing on mezzotints, etchings, letterpress and screen printing. As a freelance illustrator, Michael has worked with a diverse and impressive list of clients, including national magazines and newspapers, major corporations, a whole host of colleges and universities, book publishers, associations and others. He has also produced posters for theater, opera, and other clients. His illustrations have received peer recognition from the cream of the crop in the industry, including the Society of Illustrators, Communication Arts, 3x3 Magazine, American Illustration and others. In addition to the Society of Illustrators gallery in New York, his work has been exhibited at the Edison Gallery in DC's gallery district, Billy Shire Gallery in Los Angeles, the Corcoran Museum, the Art Institute of Washington, 87 Florida Gallery in Washington, DC, Edison Place Gallery in DC, the University of Maryland, James Madison University, Montgomery College, and Northern Virginia College. In January 2009, his work was included in the Manifest Hope exhibition, part of the inaugural celebration of Barack Obama, in the Manifest Hope Gallery in Washington, DC.
