John Steven Gurney
Characters with humor and personality. Illustrations with rich colors and textures. Dramatic lighting. These elements are the essence of John Steven Gurney's work. He has illustrated over 120 books for children, including theA to Z Mysteries", "Bailey School Kids" and the "Big Apple Barn" series. His work outside publishing has included board games, posters, puzzles, and various advertisements. "Dinosaur Train", the first book he has written and illustrated, will be on bookshelves December of 2001.
He works in oil or watercolor, and finishes a lot quicker than you might expect. Often times work is created using traditional techniques, then scanned and finished in Photoshop and submitted digitally.
