Lydia Hess
Lydia Hess Illustration of Portland, Oregon, has been illustrating communication graphics for publication, advertising and corporate clients for over 15 years. Lydia’s preferred illustration medium is scratch board. Using this black and white technique, she carves organic, stylize imagery, which is digitally colored and incorporated with a high res scan of that carving. Lydia received a BFA in graphic design in 1985, and worked as an art director and designer for 5 years before embracing illustration as her first passion. Her work has appeared in national and regional design annuals and has been featured in Adobe and Step-by-Step Design publications. Recent projects include web site graphics and book covers for various publishers, packaging labels and ongoing editorial pieces. Lydia is a past president of the American Institute of Graphic Arts, Portland Chapter.
