Joyce Hesselberth
Joyce Hesselberth combines archived images with original photography to create art which relies on concept and form. Building upon her experience as a print and multi-media designer, her work blurs the line between photomontage and conventional illustration. She has created work for a variety of editorial and corporate clients, which includes a lengthy run as a weekly contributor to The Washington Post Magazine.
Hesselberth graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1989 with a degree in Graphic Design. She has taught workshops at the Maryland Institute, College of Art and has lectured for AIGA Richmond. She is a co-founder and partner at Spur, a multi-disciplinary design studio that occupies a renovated industrial building in Baltimore.
Hesselberth's work has been featured in articles by Print and Step-By-Step Graphics and has received awards for juried shows including American Illustration, Print's Regional Design Annual, Society of Publication Design, and The NY Art Directors' Club.
