Jamie Hogan
Jamie Hogan's vivid colors and keen design enliven any assignment. Recently, she illustrated Rickshaw Girl by Mitali Perkins, which won both a 2007 Maine Lupine Honor Award, and the 2008 Jane Addams Honor Award.
Jamie grew up in the White Mountains of NH, at the Red Doors Motel. Between dips in the pool, chambermaiding, and making penpals with the girl in #10, she began to draw. She earned a BFA in Illustration at Rhode Island School of Design in 1980. After getting her feet wet freelancing for the Boston Globe, Jamie moved to San Francisco with former Globe designer, Marty Braun. She got her motorcycle license in SF while working for clients such as the Los Angeles Times and Mother Jones Magazine.
Jamie and Marty moved to Maine in 1992. Now, she enjoys the island life and also teaches at Maine College of Art. She is inspired daily by her middle school daughter, the moonrise, and mucky lowtides.
