Dennis Lyall
Dennis Lyall is a native of Iowa and graduate of the University of Kansas (1968). He was
awarded a Gold Medal for his work, while still a student, by the Society of Illustrators.
His clients include Big Apple Circus,
Bradford Exchange, St. Martins Press
and Harcourt School Publishing.
Dennis has a solid background of realistic painting and portraiture, and has also done a great
deal of commercial illustration in his 32 years as a professional. During that time, he has
worked on commissions for some of this countryÆs largest advertisers and publishers. Clients
have included ReaderÆs Digest, General Electric, Nabisco, Random House and National
Geographic Magazine.
Dennis is well known for his postage stamp designs. The U.S. Postal Service has issued 34 stamps of his designs, including work in the current "Celebrate the Century" series and
"Irish Immigration" stamp. His work is included in a major touring show of stamp art, which
opened in November at the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, Massachusetts.
Dennis often has work chosen for inclusion in the Society of Illustrators Annual Exhibition. He
has work in several private collections, and the collections of the U. S. Air Force, U. S. Coast Guard and Northeast Utilities.
He has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Society of Illustrators.
