Mark Shaver
I work in a whimsical, conceptual style that combines the spontaneity of traditional artistic techniques with the precision and design of digital software. I paint and draw a variety of palette effects and patterns, scan the art, and then create a visual library, which I manipulate digitally. This multitude of visual choices has actually allowed me to work in a simple, direct way. Freed from the traditional idea of "rendering", this technique allows me to get to the conceptual heart of the drawing. Illustration is about visual problem solving. I believe that visual simplicity and conceptual sophistication make a most potent combination. Hopefully, my work conveys this.
