Jane Sterrett
Jane Sterrett has worked as a freelance illustrator since 1970. Her work combines photographic imagery (often her own) with painterly effects to produce a vibrant and exciting collage style strong in color and tactile values. This style is intrinsically adaptable to a wide variety of subject matter, and she attracts clients from the corporate, advertising and editorial worlds.
Her work has been exhibited internationally, and she has received numberous awards from The Society of Illustrators (NY), Communication Arts, and Print Magazine, among others. In 1987 she was featured in Step by Step Magazine.
She was trained as a painter, studied with Oskar Kokoshka in Salzburg, and holds a BFA from RISD and an MFA from Yale. She is presently on the faculty of Pratt Manhattan. She has traveled extensively in Europe, Latin America, Africa and Asia.
